yCal - Privacy Policy

Lothar Baum has built yCal as a commercial app. This service is provided by Lothar Baum and is intended for use as is.

As a privacy policy statement is now mandatory for every app submitted to the Apple App Store, this page is to inform you about my policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information in case you decide to use yCal.

If you choose to use yCal, you express your agreement with these policies.

Information Collection and Use

To provide the intended service of displaying and working with your calendar entries, yCal will access your local calendar data on your Mac. yCal will therefore ask for access to your calendars and reminders (technically, reminders are calendars, too), and will use this access solely for the purpose of performing the tasks your request (i.e. create events, modify, or delete events). All information processed will be retained on your Mac and will not be collected by me in any way. In particular, yCal is not collecting any information from you or your Mac, and is not sending any information anywhere.

I want to note, however, that yCal uses standard operating services from MacOS which may, depending on your configuration choices, result in data being transferred to servers in the internet. Specifically, if you are using calendars hosted on internet servers (e.g., iCloud-based calendars, Google calendars etc.), modifications to these calendars (which yCal performs locally) will be propagated through standard MacOS services to these internet servers. In addition, if you choose to save the yCal configuration to iCloud, MacOS services will create the configuration file in your iCloud account on Apple iCloud servers. This file, containing your calendar names, your choices of colors, and your marker definitions (but no other information about you or your Mac) is handled, stored, and protected just like any other file you store on your iCloud drive.
